This article shows how to install a LAMP system with Ubuntu 6.06 LTS (Dapper Drake) from the perspective of an absolute newbie. It was written with hopes of aiding other Linux newbies on the steps necessary to create such a basic Linux, Apache2, MySQL5 and PHP5 system with FTP. I'm using a Windows 98 system. How do I permenently remove exim from my system? For some stupid reason, it keeps squarking about configuring it. I have tried apt-get remove, etc but the stuff keeps coming back. Dell doesn't believe in using linux-friendly hardware so we must jump through dozens of hoops before getting a working wireless card. (Ah Dell... I have thousands of things to say about them, none of them good.) The wireless card is (from lspci) The full run down on the card (from lshw) is Debian GNU/Linux is arguably one of the best documented distribution currently available not only because of the extensive documentation available for the 18000+ Debian packages on the distro itself, but also thanks to the many high quality Debian books available in various languages. I decided to take a closer look at what was out there in English, German and French. Most of the books I evaluated are recent publications, but some older but still useful ones are included in this review. Dear friends, Many of us recognize the importance of the Internet as the new battleground for Israel’s image. It’s time to do it better, and coordinate our on-line efforts on behalf of Israel. An Israeli software company have developed a free, safe and useful tool for us - the Internet Megaphone. Hi all! The stakes are high for Hizbullah, but it seems it can count on an unprecedented swell of public support that cuts across sectarian lines.According to a poll released by the Beirut Center for Research and Information, 87 percent of Lebanese support Hizbullah's fight with Israel, a rise of 29 percent on a similar poll conducted in February. More striking, however, is the level of support for Hizbullah's resistance from non-Shiite communities. Eighty percent of Christians polled supported Hizbullah along with 80 percent of Druze and 89 percent of Sunnis. Lebanese no longer blame Hizbullah for sparking the war by kidnapping the Israeli soldiers, but Israel and the US instead. Hi, My father-in-law is a Windows user, and has approached me with regard to a firewall. In the past, I have briefly looked at Smoothwall, but I was wondering whether anybody can recommend a firewall that can go on an old PC, that will hang-off a Windows box? My main concern is that the firewall should require minimum attention after it has been installed. The intended user knows nothing about linux sys admin. Many thanks, Chris. How many muslims would sell al-Zawahiri's head for a billion dollars? Bush's 25 million hasn't done the trick. Al Qaeda calls on Muslims to fight Israel DOHA, Qatar (CNN) -- With a poster of the burning World Trade Center behind him, Osama bin Laden's top lieutenant appeared on tape Thursday calling on Muslims to join the fight against Israel and "rise up seeking martyrdom and attack the crusaders and Zionists." The video of Ayman al-Zawahiri aired on Al-Jazeera. The law, in its majestic equality, forbids the rich as well as the poor to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal bread. I have a set of Sarge installation CDs, What is the name of the package that contains wallpaper files? . I have installed Debian 3.1 Sarge r1 from a pair of DVDs and, apparently, some modules have not been properly configured by the installation process. Please find below the complete boot log file. It corresponds to the kernel 2.4.27-3-686-smp that I have downloaded/installed a pair of days ago. The initial installation was made with the default kernel 2.4.27-2-386, and the same errors occured already with this one. Some comments on specific lines:
The installation made an entry "psmouse" in /etc/modules, but there is no psmouse.o in my system. Before realizing of this fact, I have managed to make the mouse work, both under console and X. I wonder whether I should install psmouse.o anyway (how?), or I should delete this entry in /etc/modules. |
