I am very new to debian, but i have managed to install php5, apache2 and mysql.
I want to install zend-framework 1.5.1, i have searched on the debian mirrors and can't find anything to do with zend at all.
I have found a link http://framework.zend.com/wiki/display/ZFDEV/Unix+and+Linux+Distribution+Packages that tells me to run the command
cd /usr/ports/www/zend-framework && make install clean
But it doesn't have that directory.

What do i need to do to install this?
And will all of the php dependencies be installed with the package or will i need to install them separately.

Any help is appreciated

Robin

The Resource Description Framework (RDF) is the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) proposed standard for linking and expressing data on the Web. Java developers who develop applications for the Semantic Web will need to convert RDF properties to or from Java types. Jenabean uses the Jena Semantic Web framework's flexible RDF/OWL API to persist JavaBeans, making the task of writing these applications easier and more familiar to Java developers.

Hi,

KDE 4.1 alpha was released some hours ago. We are currently working on
packages that will be slightly newer that what is shipped with the alpha1.
This will have the advantage of a more usable plasma but it is not still
completely functional, so you are warned.

So be patient, it will have like 3 days to have a full KDE 4.1 in experimental,
and we do not know yet for what arch we will do the uploads (amd64 or i386).

Hi,

last time I tried KDE4 okular didn't know anything about inverse search
in dvi documents. (Okular's website says it is work in progress.) On the
other hand kdvi has excellent inverse search capabilities but is not
part of KDE4 and neither installable in parallel to KDE4.

In effect, KDE4 (at this time) doesn't seem suitable for TeXing in a
comfortable way, unless you use non-KDE DVI-Viewers, while Okular is
promoted as a superior viewer. Hmmm...

Does anybody know when the DVI inverse search in Okular might be
finished or how to install kdvi in parallel with KDE4 (without a full
fletched chroot)?

Kind regards,

Felix

I am developing a GUI application for editing certain system files similar to Windows SysEdit using Gambas. I can read the files ok but don't know how to gain root access to write to the files. Is there and API or shell command that I can use to accomplish this task?

I'm using etch as my system if that matters.

Hi,

I am running Lenny at the moment. After going through 501 updates, I am no longer able to vnc to my various boxes. Below is the message:

phamh@lenny:~$ xvncviewer 192.168.0.2
VNC viewer version 3.3.7 - built Dec 30 2006 12:48:54
Copyright (C) 2002-2003 RealVNC Ltd.

See http://www.realvnc.com for information on VNC.
xvncviewer: ConnectToTcpAddr: connect: No route to host
Unable to connect to VNC server

I had this problem before running Etch and it went away. Please help. I ran a search on xvncviewer at this site and nothing came up.

Thanks,
Hoang

Packages in the stable distribution are not updated, with the exception of
security patches. Since there's no ktorrent packages from backports.org,
you'll need rebuild the Lenny package for Etch.

Hi,

I just upgraded a server (Debian sarge) from 2.6.8 kernel to the latest from kernel.org. I also used xfs filesystem on a new disk and I'm mounting my home dir on Ubuntu 7.10 from with xfs from the new xfs disk and I'm getting some weird behaviour.

For example, touch:

$ touch pla
touch: setting times of `pla': Invalid argument
$ ls -l pla
-rw-r--r-- 1 epte users 0 2008-04-29 00:28 pla

ie. touch creates the file but cannot set the mtime.

also with redirect from bash

$ echo pla2 > pla2
$ cat pla2
pla2
$ echo pla2 > pla2
-bash: pla2: Invalid argument
$ ls -l pla2
-rw-r--r-- 1 epte users 0 2008-04-29 00:42 pla2

redirect works on when creating the file, but not when overwriting

and getting back to the touch:

$ touch pla

Hi,
Is there anyone here who successfully uses laptop-mode-tools with KDE?
I'm trying to use it with little success. Actually there is a part of
the script, which uses probably xset to switch X standby/power off
times.
xset must be run as a user, not root and after logon (which is done by
KDM in my case).
I put relevant desktop file to /usr/share/autostart. It is run
correctly, because I can see debug output in some file.
However xset settings are not applied. When I run it manually
afterwards, they work just fine. When I (de/re)attach power cable,
they are also applied.

Do you have any suggestions?

Script run by desktop file:
#!/bin/bash
# RG - this script is used for executing laptop-mode
# after (any) user log in
echo "blabla" >>/tmp/session.start
