Forums:

I installed debian squeeze 6.0.2 and I made sure to install the grub bootloader with the installation so I could still boot windows, but it isn't on the list to boot to when I boot from the HDD. Can somebody please help me get my computer back? Dx

Look, I'm not an expert, but the following procedure adds a windows menu entry to my configuration.

go to /etc/grub.d

edit (or first create, make executable (chmod u+x nameofthefile) and edit, if it does not exist) a "40_custom" file.

Add the following to that file:
menuentry "My win instalation" {
insmod chain
insmod ntfs
set root=(hd?1,?2)
chainloader +1
}

replace ?1 with the hard-drive win is residing on, and ?2 the partition it is on. If windows is on hda1 partiton, as is usually the case,
set root command is:
set root=(hd0,1)

Hope this helps
