Chromium set as default but

Forums:

Have Chromium set as default, used update-alternatives --config x-www-browser to set Chromium to default, but, when I click a url in email client, Iceweasel opens and not Chromium.

Using 15.0.874.121 (Developer Build 109964 Linux) Debian wheezy/sid

How can I stop the other browser from opening when I have Chromium set as the default browser?

If your email client is Icedove, one way you can change which browser opens is by going to Preferences > Advanced > Config Editor. Find the lines:

network.protocol-handler.warn-external.http
network.protocol-handler.warn-external.https

Set the value for each to true. Then, the next time you click on a link in Icedove, you'll be prompted to select which application to use. In your case, you'd select /usr/bin/chromium-browser. Of course, doing it this way is user-specific, i.e. it won't affect which browser opens for other users.
