Compiz installation disabled my wifi driver

Forums:

I recently installed Debian squeeze onto my laptop. My wifi chipset is a Broadcom BCM4312. I installed and configured the wl driver and I was able to connect to the internet.

Later, I installed compiz, which I configured and got working. (I had to generate and edit my /etc/X11/xorg.conf file) However, after doing this my computer can no longer see wifi signals. I attempted to re-install the wl driver, but the same problems persisted. What should I do to fix this?
