Some of you probably know of the sad story of FIC and Neo Freerunner (http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Neo_FreeRunner) .
I heard that bunch of guys from FIC made another free hardware platform - NanoNote (http://en.qi-hardware.com/wiki/Ben_NanoNote). This is some kind of PDA.
What these two projects have in common is a completely open hardware design. Does somebody know about other similar attempts? Anything usable?
On the other hand, already for quite some time there were linux distros intended for Zaurus and iPAQ PDAs (www.handhelds.org). The Familiar distribution was quite usable on my old iPAQ 3970.
Does anybody know of any other not-entirely-open, but interesting PDA or phone devices which can run linux based distros? What are your experiences?
What about programmable scientific calculators?
