Needing a little clarification on building a package. I have a system that uses the Realtek 8168B NIC card and I am running Debian Squeeze, kernel 2.6.32-5-amd64 and I am trying to figure out how to build a package from the file I downloaded
(http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false).

I have extracted the bz2 file in /usr/src and read the README file but I am not sure of the steps I need to perform to build this package.

I have installed the build-essential and dh-make packages from aptitude but what do I do next to build the package? Some sites say I need to run make and others say use dh-make.Do I run them as root or regular user? Looking for the general layout of the steps.

Make
Configure
autorun.sh

What are the steps?

Any help would be appreicated.
