It happens to me often that configure scripts of a source code installation package, instead of guessing that the correct 'install' program resides in /usr/bin/, grabs an IDL script in of the same name in /opt/rsi directory just because, i suppose it resides in the path.
I resolved the issue by first grepping through the content of the source directory to find where
/opt/rsi/install IDL script resides. It showed up in two places - config.status and the Makefile. I have then substituted those two occurences by real /usr/bin/install (with the appropriate flag -c) and, voila, make install did the job correctly.
This is more a note to myself...still,somebody might find it useful.
