Try running k3b from a console and look at the messages when it crashes.
This may give you enough information to solve the problem. If it just
says "segfault", then you may want to run it with a debugger, gdb for
example.

I did run it from the command line to see what was going wrong. Didn't
get much info through. The debug errors within k3b say something about
no permission to use the device.
Can any ones else using Testing confirm that he can make an audio cd
from a flac file on a fully updated system?

I'm having the same exact trouble with Sid. I can make and audio cd from
MP3s though.

It's been a while since filed a grave bug regarding this (Bug#446775),
but no developers seems to have taken any action at all. Wonder what is
going on?

Same here! Same version of k3b, kernel 2.6.22.

Yes, I just checked my mail and had one from the maintainer earlier
today. I just love Debian! And open source!
I am going to upgrade the machine, as soon as my apt mirrors get
updated, and will send a thank you mail to him.
