K3b and ape - cue images

Hi!

Anyone knows how can I burn ape-cue images on k3b? I get an error of unknown format in my attempts. Which package i have to install to get it? Thanks.

Re: K3b and ape - cue images

I'm never dealt with ape-cue images (why keep reinventing the wheel?!).

But here's a thought if they aren't supported by k3b: Can you convert them to another format and then use k3b to burn them?

The guy is right....here is a specific answer

I don't know if k3b will do ape directly, I don't think so. The OP is probably gone, and I will never be back to this forum I'm pretty sure (Incidentally I think it's pretty dumb that I have to register on here just to do a good deed, since there are one million and one forums out there and I'm not going to register for every one of them...I happen to have the answer to this and normally I wouldn't bother to help because I have to register to help...but I have time to kill today. Think about that, a true help forum isn't helpful if I have to sign up to just help somebody I found with a problem in a google search. Don't take your forum so seriously man there's way too many of them to register for.)

But...The next person that finds this in a google search, here is all you have to do:

Download the ape conversion program for linux. For me, I'm on debian so I searched for mac 3.99 deb and found a debian package. The version number will change with time but it was 3.99 for me at the moment I knew because I'd found an rpm for the redhatters previously.

I just put in the deb with dpkg -i as usual. THen convert the ape to a wav like this: mac input.ape output.wav -d

Then edit the .cue file with a text editor (such as kate or vi) and change the .ape file name to the .wav filename you generated. Then open the .cue in k3b and burn it. Works fine. It will then burn the .wav to cd and put in the track splits as it should.

Happy apeing.

Oh...why reinvent the wheel? Only reason is that ape is a lossless compression tailored specifically to audio. It makes the image files smaller. If only k3b knew how to convert from ape to wav on the fly it would be easier.

I've only just run into ape but at least now I know what it is and how to deal with it on linux.

bye
