Re: Agence France Presse posts military numbers
I don't see what the point of AFP's portraying troop numbers like this is.
First, Israel is one of the best-equipped militaries in the world, thanks to US taxpayers. Israel is also one of the most heavily-militarized nations on earth. Israeli civic life revolves around the military and the Zionist campaign of ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians and Israeli expansion.
But the way AFP paints this, Lebanon is 1/6 or so the military size of Israel. The truth is that in a conventional war, Israel would rout Lebanon without breaking a sweat. The same goes for Israel compared to Syria or any other Arab country.
But like the US has discovered in Iraq, all that modern military equipment is pretty useless when it comes to fighting a modern, 4th generation war against a determined enemy.
Hizbollah defeated Israel once. In the 1980s it was determined Hizbollah guerilla tactics that forced Israel to withdraw from its illegal occupation of Lebanon.
Israel is stupid enough that they didn't learn any lessons the first time. As the old saying goes, history repeats itself, first as tragedy and then as farce.
Now, Israel has fought literally for days trying to capture the main Hizbollah stronghold. Sorry, but Israeli draftees know that they are not fighting for the existence of Israel, they know they're fighting in another useless political war of aggression.
When you put those half-motivated Israeli draftees up against well-trained Hizbollah fighters who are supremely confident, under excellent leadership, who know their cause is just, and who have the backing of their fundamentalist religious beliefs, that combined with Israel's brutally immoral but half-hearted invasion spells doom for Israel. And, sadly, doom also for countless innocent Lebanese civilians.
Since the US is fully backing Israel's war crimes and opposing any cease fire, the only thing we hope for is that Israel is defeated so decisively that it breathes life into the Mid East peace process that the US and Israel opposes so vehemently.
How to win the war?
"But like the US has discovered in Iraq, all that modern military equipment is pretty useless when it comes to fighting a modern, 4th generation war against a determined enemy."
IntnsRed,
We all know that the following benevolent leaders,
King Abdullah II, Jordanian Head of State,
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Supreme Leader of Iran,
Bashar al-Assad, President of Syria,
King Abdullah, King of Saudi Arabia,
Saddam Hussein, President of Iraq,
and President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak of Egypt,
treat their populace with love and kindness and that's how they prevent terrorists and groups such as Hezbollah. These are exemplary leaders!
Should Israel and the United States adopt their methods? Would that win the 4th generation war? We certainly want win it pussy footing around.
"I thought using the Ayatollah's money to support the Nicaraguan resistance was a neat idea."

Lack of airplanes make them become terrorists
It's time to help both Israel and their neighbors. If the rich western world give away airplanes with lots of bombs and other massdestruction equipment to Libanon and Palestine all the terrorism against Israel will be gone. We all now that dropping bombs from airplanes and kill hundreds of civilians in one strike is heroic, but shooting cheap rockets that only kills a few civilians is terrorism. If Libanon and Palestine got airplanes and lots of heavy bombs both sides will be glad.
Long live the heroic war! ;-)
As a U.S. citizen I'm
As a U.S. citizen I'm ashamed that my tax dollars are supporting Israel's brutal occupation and criminal war.
Terrorism risk is small
Why fear terrorism when you're nearly as likely to die in an avalanche? Better to spend the money going for the war on terror on educating Maryland drivers (the absolute worst I've seen anywhere, even the ones with yellow ribbon magnets).
Instead, for every American killed in a terror attack, we go bezerk and kill a few Arab militants and dozens of civilians who happen to be in the vicinity.
