insmod HOWTO

Hi,

I am trying to get the module cx88-dvb configured correctly for my PTV-305 tuner card.

Below is the dmesg excerpt for the card. It suggests that I use the card= insmod option.

DMESG excerpt start
cx88[0]: Your board isn't known (yet) to the driver. You can
cx88[0]: try to pick one of the existing card configs via
cx88[0]: card= insmod option. Updating to the latest
cx88[0]: version might help as well.

BTW, I ran modprobe cx88-dvb and the system did not hick up. I did a lot of googling and cannot seem to find anything on insmod. Can someone provide me a clue/documentation on insmod?
