Windows and ghost partitions

I have an NTFS partition which WinXP can't see (it reports it as unknown). I think it became "unknown" when I reinstalled Windows. However I don't have problems reading it from Linux. Does anybody have an idea how to make it again readable from Windows. If this seems a vague description of a probelm, could you recommend me a program I could use to make partition fixes in WinXP?

I've had success with testdisk before.
