Permissions HelpHi, The permissions on my server are all messed up. Can someone tell me how i can fix the permissions on my machine so things will run smooth and stay secure. I first noticed things were wrong when ssh stop working. I worked out that the security key was set to 777. ssh didnt like this, so i fixed that. I suspect most of the permissions have been changed. I now keep getting a cant access /dev/null permisision denied. When i'm logged in as root its fine, but any new users i create are getting the /dev/null error when i try to access sftp for example. What I need are some guidelines as to what permissions, owners, groups i could set for my system files, directories, www folders etc. Thanks in advance --Mark |
Permissions Help
Either you have been hacked (then only a reinstall will be safe), either you have issued an erroneous command (then only a reinstall will be safe).
Then ? Only a reinstall will be safe.
But, hey, you said his is a server ? Then you have backups, true ?
