Newbie Gets First Down in Broken Field Dash Installation

Hi folks. Don't know how often I'll blog, but I'm glad this feature is here. I recently got frustrated with XP and wouldn't touch Vista with someone else's computer so I'm giving Debian a shot. It's been a struggle.

I've been bootlegging wireless (with permission) and began with a DVD install. Then I cooked my wireless nic trying to reinstall windows so I could download some of the other bits. Finally I got a hard line today, so now I'm trying to patch up the things that aren't working.

So far, I'm in love with KDE, but my package installer isn't finding stuff online yet, and a few programs aren't talking sense: JACK, Ardour, and the movie player, which works but crashes. I'm having fun with gimp. Konqueror crashes on Facebook, and I'm not sure what to do with flash stuff yet. Work in progress.
