How to install AVIDEMUX 2.4.1

Hi,

My recent avidemux sessions have resulted in sudden crashes. How do I go about diagnosing this problem? The avidemux version is 2.3.0 which is installed from the Debian DVD Etch r1.

My attempts of 2.4.1 install have not gone very well. I added deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org/ etch main and the corresponding deb-src to the sources.list. But each install attempt just calls up the 2.3.0 version from the DVD. I even commented out the CD source, ran apt-get update, and still no luck.

Anyone has any thoughts about the diagnostics and the 2.4.1 install to share w/ us?

Thanks,
Hoang

Re: How to install AVIDEMUX 2.4.1

2.4.1 is the Testing version of Avidemux, I believe you're going to run into dependencies problems if you only have Etch sources. Regarding the crashes, you can try renaming the hidden file in your profile named .avidemux in .avidemux.old, this way the apps is going to create a new pristine preference file and maybe you'll be back to normal.

I run 2.4.1 qtavidemux and have no issue, but I am on Lenny.

Thanks for the .avidemux tip. I came up w/ a work-around; instead of editing out three segments from the video file all in one shot, I did them in two or three steps. This work-around takes up hard-drive space momentarily but no crashes.

Comment out reference to DVD in your /etc/apt/sources.lst file.
