RAM and PAEHi There, I am new to Debian, although I have years in the CentOS arena, and have a question about PAE and RAM. In CentOS, on 32-bit installations, I installed Kernel-PAE, to recognize RAM > 4GB. This also worked on machines that only had 4GB RAM, to see all the RAM. I have now installed Etch on a couple of these machines with only 4GB, and have the same issue - that the OS only sees 3.3 GB. How would I install the equivalent of PAE, with Debian? Thanks for you patience. Michael. |
Re: RAM and PAE
I'm not sure what the difference is between pae and bigmem. Maybe it is the same thing. Anyway, there are linux-images available in the repository with -bigmem appended to the package name.
Re: RAM and PAE
This may be bios and not kernel. Kernel should see 4G without an issue in default configuration.
