HP TX1000I'm trying to install Debian 40r3 on a HP TX1000 laptop. The laptop has 2 AMD 64 processors, so I initially downloaded the amd64 DVD, which refused to boot at all (black screen with flashing cursor). I then tried the i386 version of the DVD, but this is the same. I have also tried installing older versions (3.0 and 3.1) both from DVDs which were purchased. These work up until the partitioning, when the installer refuses to recognise the hard disk. The hard disk is a SATA drive. Does anyone know what I need to do to get these disks to boot? Many thanks. |
Re: HP TX1000
I have a TX1420us. To boot the system use the noapic option in grub list, and then edit the /boot/grub/menu.lst file to include this option too.
I have been having problems with the sound card, though. get's detected by alsa, but does not sound
Re: HP TX1000
Just wanted to say that I also got it working this way, in grub, with adding "noapic nolapic" after the kernel load, totally new to the world of linux, this TX1420us is not so friendly with linux's. Thanks for letting me know how to edit the grub so I don't have to do this every reboot! (shows how noob'd out on 'nix I am) The sound card is detected, but no sound, also don't have the support of the touchscreen, the buttons, and I am sure there are other things, with this bleeding edged tableture here. Hope maybe someone else has a fix? If I stumble upon it I will let ya'll know.
