KDE 4

Tags:

I have used Debian for many years.

About 2 months ago I was able to install KDE4. I have since wiped that partition clean and am now trying to install KDE4 in another partition with a fresh install of Debian Sid on it.

In my /etc/apt/sources.list file I am using http://ftp.debian.org/Debian/
and have all possible repositories listed: Stable, Testing, Experimental, Unstable and also the src repositories.

When I try to install the latest KDE4.0 packages I get dependancy problems all over the place. The conflict seems to start with the QT4 versions conflicting or something.

Has anyone managed a clean install of KDE4 lately? If so, how did you do it?

Re: KDE 4

I've seen a post on the lists talking about how they are skipping to 4.0.66 and that until they get 4.0.66 all built into experimental there might be issues. (http://lists.debian.org/debian-kde/2008/04/msg00000.html)

I also remember that when I upgraded from 4.0.1 to 4.0.2 I had to do a lot of work with synaptic with respect to the dependencies, it took my a try or two to find the first packages to upgrade.
