Re: GUI Friontends

There are loads of information on these topics, you just need to find your particular one. The search engine is your friend. Also, www.debian.org. Look at the links at the bottom part of DebianHELP page (e.g.http://wiki.debian.org/From_Windows_To_Debian) . Most beginners start with either Gnome or KDE (and stick afterwards with one of them). Both are available from in Debian (I think they are also available "out-of-the-box" so you can switch between them to check out which suits you best).

I never had any problem doing most of the stuff i was doing in MS GUI in Linux GUIs right from the start. Just try them out.

Re: GUI Friontends

Just what the doctor ordered, someone speaking linux in a windows tounge.

This whole process makes me feel stupid all over again, not that I ever needed help.

I appreciate the response,if I have allready installed a front end,how would I execute the gui itself from terminal or root terminal??

I actually installed nmap as a test pilot since i use it so much at work.

Ultimatly Id like to get an up to date version of the wireshark gui,its more applicable to my needs.

Thanks again.
