Using a live cd to recover a broken debian system.Installed OS : Debian x86 architecture I installed a falty config for nvidia, and my debian os stopped displaying graphics and went to text only. :( Luckily i had a Damn Small Linux Not cd lying around and i popped it in. Well, now, i want to load an essay from the hard drive so i can turn it in tommorrow. Problem is, damn small linux is meant to be ran from a cd. i want to load my file. Can't figure out how to get to my old installation. I had a standard install. |

If you only messed-up the xorg configuration, and your Debian system is still booting to console mode, just boot, identify yourself as root (and give root password) then type :
dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
You may be asked to choose the size of your display (like 1024x768) in a list, just tick the appropriate one with the "space" key and validate. When done, reboot :
reboot
Should give you back a graphic session.
