X11 development packages

I want to build KDE 4 from sources. What I wanted to do first what to install from pre-built packages but I tried some things and none have worked, so now I am trying to build from sources. I need to have X11 development packages to do this, Debian did not install them when it first installed. What are the packages I need to install and how to install them ?

Re: X11 development packages

I feel its referring to libx11-dev and x11-protocore-dev package here among others.

Which distro did you try to install the kde4 packages?

I am using a debian lenny system and installed kde4 from experimental. It worked for me without problem. (has some conflict with lenny's gnome/kde thats all. removes its packages now and then)

I suggest to try doing that first.
If need be to do from source plz install in the normal way: aptitude install -y when you have correct packages updated.
