Sharing files in virtual machine of virtualbox

I have installed windows xp on a virtual machine in virtualbox on my Debian Lenny system.
How can I access files created in the virtual machine on the host system?
also how can pendrives be used such that they are accessible in both main and virtual system?

Ok
I was able to solve it myself. I hadn't noticed that the shared folders canbe written to in both the host and virtual machine. I made /media as a shared folder and am able to access my pendrives there too. (I just have to remove in host machine). Apparently the non-free version of virtual box allows pendrives but I am not going to use a non-free software just like that.
So now my problem is solved for all practical purposes. Hope this helps someone else with the same problem.
