New "Lenny" Firewall

I recently acquired an older Dell Optiplex GX280 with 1gig RAM, 20 Gb HD for use as a Corporate Firewall. I used the built-in network card (Which works)as the internal side and got a second card for the Internet side. I loaded Debian "Lenny" from a minimal install ISO, and went to the Debian site, followed step by step to get it running. From the console, I can get to the Internet, and see and ping local workstations. The problem is that it will not allow workstations to go to the internet. There must be a little catch I am missing...Any ideas?

You probably can only ping your intranet ... but not internet. Are you using a router or direct link to your ISP ? @home or @work?
