GRUB Error 17

Okay, here it is I got tired of Windows XP so I put Debian 5 on my computer with windows. That worked, but I couldn't get back to windows, so I looked all over for the code to put in the menu.lst for the GRUB file to boot into windows. Anyways I found something and added it to the menu.lst, but now when ever I start my comnputer all I get is this:

Grub loading stage 1.5 ; or something like this

GRUB loading please wait.....
Grub Error 17

Can you Please help me, I've spent enough time looking for help????

Re: GRUB Error 17

I had that same problem last night. I had loaded Debian via a web link and apparently Debian did not properly set up it's partition and would not boot. I was able to load Windows XP and used partition magic to repair the partition. when I restarted I got the same error you have. I was able to fix it by reloading Debian via the disk set I have. So, yeah, it looks like the partitioner messed up your hard drive if it did not wipe out your Windows completely.

I was hoping the net link install would repair the NVIDIA problems but it looks like I am stuck with Debian wasting a 100 gig section of my hard drive until I get some help with NVIDIA or uninstalling Debian to reinstall Xubuntu which seems to be much easier to set up.
