CUPS ErrorI just completed an installation of Debian testing. I am trying to install a Samsung ML-2250 laser printer, but I get this error: CUPS_BackEnd: get-printers failed: client-error-not-found Does anyone know what this means? I had no problem installing the printer in Sarge. Thanks for any help you can give. |
Can you see it if you run: lsusb
I suggest that it is a USB connected printer and therefor I ask if you can see it if you run:
# lsusb
I had problems with my printer then I used KDE's printer configuration application or http://127.0.0.1:631 but then I used Gnomes (Systemtools->Printer) Foomatic-gui I succed, at last.
Yes, it is a usb printer,
Yes, it is a usb printer, but executing lsusb did show the printer. Thanks for the suggestion. Still can't get it installed though.
Samsung 2250
I have that printer, and had the same problem with getting it to work (under Sid several months ago). I never figured out how to print from Debian, but its interesting that it worked for you under Sarge.
My solution was to hook it up to Windows :-(, and print from Debian this way.
Sarge is the greatest!
Sarge is the greatest! My printer worked, like everything else, even with KDE from Backports. With one ecception: importing pictures from digital cameras with Gwenview. Gwenview craches. The main drawback is that Backports KDE version, 3.5.0, misses some features that I have been addicted to from newer versions. Else I should run Sarge for the rest of my life.
