installing debian with only cd's ... help ?!

hi, i'm totally new
i do not know anything about linux, but i've tried to install ubuntu, mandrake --> it didn't work, so i found debian, and downloaded a bussiness card version (or something like that)
i installed it to an old computer and it works, but i'm not able to install packages via cdrom's. there's no internet connection to that old computer, and if i try with apt to read the cdrom's i recieve a message like: this is not a debian cdrom
what should i do?
help me please, i'm new with it

network install cd

If your debian install cd fits on a business card cd, then you have downloaded the "Network install cd".

There is nothing wrong with this method (in fact, I would recommend it), unless of course, you do not have a network internet connection.

In that case, you should download the (larger) debian iso's or dvd's instead.

If you download the cd's you probably won't need more than the first couple. (Don't download all 18 or so cd's - it is a waste of time)

Finally, if you plan on using this as a desktop, I would recommend that you use the testing distribution. In the next few of months, it will become the new stable distribution, and you will get a much better experience of debian.
If it is for a server, sarge is recommended.
