Desktop distorted in all but Gnome Classic

krepitus's picture

I'm new to Linux, and I used the i386 image to install Debian on an old e machine that was collecting dust. It has a K7MNF-64 system board with a sempron processor. Gnome Classic is the only desktop I can use. Default and Gnome are distorted. You can sort of read them, but they are broken up by offsetting horizontal lines. That's the best description I can come up with. Has anyone else run into this issue?

I am an old user of debian for quite a few years, but i also had problems with the graphics on wheezy, and had to use the gnome classic as well
all other displays were grainy and you couldnt see most of the text.
