Forums:

Hi,
I just installed Debian 8 on my laptop, Lenovo X230. I am connected via ethernet. However, I am not able to see any wifi, or connect.

I did the following:
In my /etc/apt/sources.list, I added deb http://http.debian.net/debian jessie main contrib non-free

as suggested, did apt-get update, and installed firmware-iwlwifi. However, listing lspci does not show a Network Controller.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
R.

[Solved] Though I don't know how !

Hi,
Thanks for your response. Wifi networks magically showed up today. I moved to my office network, and they showed up. I did re-compile the kernel, and re-install iwlwifi. I guess this doesn't help much, since I can't figure out what I did wrong, or what I did right ! I guess wifi for the laptop being unstable is the only reasonable explanation. Thanks for the link.
