Core 2 Duo success stories?

I would like to build a new box for debian etch using a core 2 duo chip.

I'm having trouble picking a motherboard.

Based and performance and price I'd like to use a motherboard based on
intel's P965 chipset. But from what I've read, people are having
problems installing on those.

Is anyone running debian on a P965 board?

Then there's 975X and nforce4 chipsets.

I'd like something that works out of the box with the lastest etch.

I will use the computer for number crunching. No need for SLI.

How about it? Any Core 2 Duo success stories to share?

The more I search, the more uncertain I become.
