Why are some of you always quoting previous posts?I suppose that people on this list know that they do and why and I have started to wonder: Why are some of you always quoting previous posts? In my opinion is absolutely unnecessary to quote then you publish answers to previous posts in a thread. It's not that hard to understand what question the answer is about. With all those lines with quotes it's a lot of unnecessary work to scroll throw the posts until you reach the content you are looking for. And if you don't have any good reason to quote - I'm sure you have ;-) - I prefer to not have to read the same quoted question over and over again. |
Re: Why are some of you always quoting previous posts?
If you're referring to the forum posts in the debian.org mailing list forums, remember, those are imported mailing lists. Thus, the posters there are just following normal mailing list etiquette.
If they're in the other forums, well, then that's odd.
Thanks for that...
it was a answer for lots of questions. I haven't observed those included mailinglists before, I have only wondered hove it has been possible to so dramaticly increase the conversation here and where all those new people come from.
Therefor my new question is hove I can get rid of those mailinglists. If i click on forum->unanswered posts I can choose to hide them but only read unanswered posts. But if I click on forum->recent post that link shows me the unanswered posts as well. It must be a faulty link.
I want to see recent posts and been able to hide the mailing lists. I suppose that should be the case if I only can reach that side. I will to go back to those good old days then the postings was less frequent.:-)
Re: Why are some of you always quoting previous posts?
It's interesting how different people use the site differently.
Give me a couple of days and I'll create some new "new/recent" blocks for the forum pages which segregate the web and mailing list forums. Should that make it easier to grok?
Absolutely!
