no sound on mplayer + .nsv stream

Would anyone with mplayer and some knowledge of streams be able to explain
why I can't get sound on this stream. This is a Catalan radio station with
some added (looped video). When I run:
$mplayer http://85.92.138.33:8500/;stream.nsv
I get the vido bit ok but no sound? I'm running Debian Etch 2.6.18 and the
sound system works otherwise. Here's the output from mplayer which may help
someone with more knowledge than me solve this problem.

no sound on mplayer + .nsv stream

Hi Jonathan. Don't know if you remember me but we had an e-encounter on
this list when you were trying to get your catalan fonts working with
unicon. Anyway, just nice to see you're still around.

To the facts:

imho this is the problem, probably the actual bitrate is not the
detected one, judging fom the fact that the resolution is at 32,5 kHz
I'd guess that the bitrate is lower than 128 kbit's. But I have to admit
that I don't have a real solution, maybe you should just google the
"FAAD: compressed input bitrate missing, assuming" part.

Side-Note: afaik aac is proprietary, so maybe there's just not much doc
about the format and so the linux-support pretty bad, maybe you just
digged up a bug in the aac-codec.

Good luck, Roman.

Hi Roman,
Sure I remember. Thanks for the hints. Interestingly, there's also a tv
channel associated with the same people and the url is:
http://85.92.138.40:8000/;stream.nsv
It's called Tramuntana-TV and it's streaming perfectly (both video and
sound)
Both video and sound are fine.
The other stream that I talked about in my OP is basically audio, it's a
webradio station with some accompanying eye-candy. I can't any sound. Both
use faad.
Here's the output from mplayer run in console:

Notice that the "Opening audio decoder" sections are identical; but one
works (the 2nd) and the other doesn't (the original one). There are some
differences in the first section, e.g. in the 2nd working stream:

Bitrate: 300kbit/s
Cache size set to 320 KBytes
Cache fill: 5.00% (16384 bytes)

In the original non-working stream

Bitrate: 300kbit/s
Cache size set to 320 KBytes
Cache fill:  2.50% (8192 bytes)

In both cases faad is used for the audio and it seems to work, at least in
the 2nd case.
Cheers,
Jonathan
