Etch hangs on boot after printer installation [Solved]

I just installed the Linux driver for my printer a Samsung ML-1710, printer worked fine but now the system hangs on boot, I have attached a screenshot of where the boot stalls.

I am not sure what to make of it, should I do a dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg?

i can't see anything

I can't read that screenshot - you'll have to type in the text yourself.

Try booting with the 'single' parameter so that services aren't started; if things still hang then you'll need a live CD to help you fix things (unless you know how to force the system not to load drivers).

Single user option hangs in the same spot.

I don't have a live cd only the net install disk.

Should I get a live cd like knoppix?

Ended up reinstalling debian, for some reason this time I could install the printer without having to install Samsung driver.

live CD

You should always have an updated live CD just in case something goes wrong. Knoppix is OK; I haven't tried Ubuntu/Kubuntu yet. Preferably the CD should have a similar kernel to what you run - otherwise boot-related issues can get a bit tricky.

there is no attachment. also many people on this list work on a cli
only and can't or won't view a screenshot. just describe, as
accurately as you can, what is happening.

xserver-xorg doesn't have anything to do with booting, it has to do with
Xwindow.

What kind of a driver for a printer? "Drivers" in Linux are part of the
kernel. Printer stuff is usually part of ghostscript such as gs-esp.

At what point in boot is the system hanging and what are the last few
messages you see on the screen?

Etch hangs on boot after printer installation

For some reason the printer wouldn't work with the debian "drivers" so I had downloaded and installed Samsung Linux driver.

But like I said in my third post in this thread everything is okay now, I ended up reinstalling Etch and this time the printer worked with the GDI driver.
Splix was actually the recommended driver but the installation would just stops.

Thanks for the help guys.
