amarok and daap

Hi list,

I just installed mt-daapd server to share my music collection over the
network. It is perfectly seen by my iBook (iTunes). However, I want to
be able also to see this collection with Amarok on my other Debian
machine. The daapd server is correctly seen from that machine, when
using avahi-discover (I add a service /etc/avahi/services). I followed
the instructions given here: http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/Music_Sharing
Everithing goes well until Point 9). At 10), I see no labelled folder
corresponding to the mt-daapd server name. I can click on the button
to add a computer. If I enter the IP of the server, everything is fine
and I can play the music. However, I would have expected that at least
entering the computer.local name broadcasted by avahi would have been
enough. But this is not the case.

Are there any special tricks to make configuration of DAAP easier with
Amarok ? Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Cedric

I do not consider this question off-topic on the list, but i think you
will have more changes to get help in amarok's mailing list:

Hi Ana,

Thank you for the tip. I will try that. But anyway, if someone has an
idea, please feel free to answer.

Best,

Cédric.

Hi Cedric,

I just installed the package mt-daapd and on the file /etc/mt-daapd.conf i
just edited the parameters: mp3_dir to point to my music directory and
servername which I changed the name.
Later I restarted the service mt-daapd and It worked in local and remote
Amarok and also on iTunes.

amarok and daap

Hi !

I just restarted my computer today, just in case. And, now.... it works !!!!
With avahi-discover, I see now two Itunes Audio Access services. One
corresponding to the entry I added in /etc/avahi/services and the
other one corresponding to the mt-daapd server itself ... The last one
did not appear before, although I restarted the service at least once,
since I changed the mp3_dir.

Anyway, I started amarok, and the name of the daap server appeared
magically. So everything is fine. I am really sorry for the noise.
Thanks for the good work !
