Sarge Installation 3.1 on Dell PowerEdge 860

Hi

I am looking at installing Sarge 3.1 stable, 2.6 Kernel on a Dell PowerEdge 860, with the following Spec:

Dual Core Intel® Xeon® 3040 Processor at 1.86GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 1066MHz FSB
2GB DDR2 SDRAM 533MHz Memory (2X1G Dual Ranked DIMMs), ECC
C4 Add in SAS/SATA RAID 1, 2 Hard Drives connected to add in SAS controller
2 x 250 SATA hard drives

I will be doing a kernel build and will probably encounter a few issues, as others have trying to install Sarge with SATA drives: http://www.debianhelp.org/node/4447

However, I was wondering if anyone else has tried to install Sarge on a Dell PowerEdge 860 server recently and what problems they might have encountered?

Many thanks

upgrade to etch

I myself had problem with other pc due to sata. I suggest that you download the etch kernel and dpkg it. Installing it may help solve this problem. Earlier somebody had given on net a custom installer for 2.6.14 kernel which worked with most sata but it seems to have disappeared. Best would be to upgrade to etch though. Its really nice. Earlier i thought nothing was better than sarge. I now believe nothing's better than etch!!
