Unique codes instead of trademarks

Why don't we simply introduce unique numerical codes instead of trademarked names/brands? World would simply be a better place. So, when I want original Nike i go to the shop and buy Nike 001.

There's something like that - the UPC (universal product code). But things just had to be complicated by 2D and '3D' (really also 2D) scan codes. You might have trouble remembering what all the numbers are though.

Yes, but we wouldn't actually need to remeber them if we devise such a system in which e.g first company gets the highest priority code (let' say 0001). All in all, I was thinking about this as a solution to keeping companies of robbing us of words. Practically, non-coded words can't be used as brand-names thus keeping this it for free use in any kind of communication. I mean how can "Yahoo" be a trademark. Or "Orange", or "just do it"...

Unique codes...

Just use Edsel..
