Big news this morning - Israel has the opportunity to FINALLY do something really smartAccording to news agencies reports, Abbas has demanded that the Israelis release Marwan Barghouti, arguably the last credible secular Palestinian leader left. Such an idea, whether it actually happens or not, has huge ramifications for the dynamics of the Middle-East. Read my discussion of this issue on my blog. This is, potentially, big stuff! (also - last Friday I was interviewed about the events in the Middle-East by the Libertarian journalist Scott Horton for his radio talkshow on KAOS 95.5 in Austin, TX (Scott is, IMHO, one of the two best reporters in the USA (the other one being Greg Palast). It'll be interesting to see what happens. I hope the Palestinians learn they shouldn't vote for terrorists. But I'll still bet a case of beer that the people in Gaza simply accuse the people in the West Bank of collaborating with the Zionists and go on supporting Hamas.

That assumes that the people in Gaza believe that the people in the West Bank had a real choice. The fact that the West Bank is a Fatah does not mean that most if its people support Fatah. That Fatah is a tool of the Zionists can hardly be seriously disputed by now. Remember: "Ye shall know them by their fruits". By that criteria Fatah is just a particularly vicious and corrupt subsidiary of the Shin Bet...
