what is the best way to install KDE in Etch?

Tags:

I'm a Linux newbie. I decided to go with Debian because it is free, but I'm having trouple installing kde. Gnome installs by default, and has a bunch of features. I opened the terminal from GNOME and typed "apt-get install kde"
Only a very basic desktop was installed w/o any applications or even a terminal window. Can anynone give me any basic instructions on installing a full-featured version of KDE with all apps that are loaded on the hard drive?

Thanks,
Rick

You have installed full version of desktop environment and now you have to install applications separately.
To view available applications for kde type:
apt-cache search kde|less

For example, konsole is a terminal emulator in kde

Try the synaptic package manager

Applications>Debian>Apps>System>Synaptic Package Manager
