640x480 max ?

Hello,

I install Debian 4 and can't set resolution. It is 640x480 max.

I cant find XF86Config file, but I edit xorg.conf and remove 640x480 but there is no remarks.

Here it is xorg.conf:

# /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the /etc/X11/xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man /etc/X11/xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following command:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

640x480 max ?

This file is the same as XF86Config-4. In the "Modes" sections, just remove everything except the 1024x768. But before you do that, it would be better if you use the proprietary driver rather than 'nv' - I had a GF440MX many years ago (in a laptop) and the 'nv' driver only caused me problems. Have a look at the NVidia website to see what driver they recommend for your kernel and the GF440.

640x480 max ?

Solved, problem was in VertRefresh and HorizontalSync, usefull tool is configure-debian.
