Dual-screen with openbox

Hi there.

I want to replace metacity in gnome with openbox. I like gnome, I only want to change the window manager.

Unfortunately I have no clue whatsoever how to do this on my dual-screen setup. I don't like xinerama too much, i prefer having a desktop of it's own on every screen. But when I replace metacity with openbox by

openbox --replace

openbox works only on that screen I invoked it.

Worse, when I save the session and restart gdm, the window manager works only on one screen.

What do I do wrong?

Maybe this is a pretty daft question, but when you feel inclined to rtfm me, please be so kind to point me to the right manual.
