To become root, type the following from the terminal:
su

Now just start any program by typing the executable name:
kommander

OR

ALT+F2
type in the executable name (as mentioned above)
Options -> "Run as different user" and put in the username (root) and
password.
Press Run

the executables are called kmdr-executor and kmdr-editor (both in /usr/bin
but that should be in your path already normally)
