I have just installed Debian 6. I do not remember putting in a log on name. I remember two passwords, but not a log on name.

How can I find my log on name please?

Unless you changed it, you'll always have a default superuser name of "root".

Any user on a Debian system can view the /etc/passwd file. That file contains a list of all users of the system, their user numbers, the shell they're using and some other info. Just use a command of "cat /etc/passwd" or "less /etc/passwd" to view the file.
