Import pictures from camera fails

In my freshly installed Debian system plugging in a usb camera caused a pop up
offering to import the pictures. On accepting the import nothing happens.
In case it might help someone else, here is the solution to the problem of
the import not working when plugging in a usb camera. The installation is missing
the package gthumb. Running synaptic package manager and installing this fixes the problem.

Import pictures from camera

it would be a good idea to report this as a bug against debian, or send an email to the package maintainer (either of gnome-volume manager or gthumb) about this iesue

Thank you for this, it's difficult to decide whether you are helping or simply clogging up the airwaves with babble...

Excellent help, solved the problem in minutes. I tried installing less than the whole gthumb and install the packages it needed but couldn't make it work so in the end ended up installing gthumb, works great.
