Kernel 2.6 config for Xeon 5100Hello to everybody, I'm facing a 2.6.18 kernel compilation for a dual-core Xeon 5100 processor and I'm not sure what optin is best for this CPU. Looking into this website http://gentoo-wiki.com/MacPro (the CFLAGS section) didn't help me either, since in this kernel I don't have the nocona or merom options. Can anyone help me in this matter? Thanks in advance, |
Kernel 2.6 config for Xeon
Select the 'MPENTIUM4' for the CPU.
Thanks!
I first was in doubt because I know that the 5100 Xeon series are derived from the Pentium M CPU, but it seems they also have pretty much in common with the P4 series.
So I followed your advice and did as you suggested.
Thanks a lot...
Thanks!
That's Intel - always trying to confuse people. The M series Pentium is not the "Pentium Mobile", but good luck figuring out which chips go in which class. If you select "PENTIUMM" rather than "MPENTIUM4" you would be choosing the 'Mobile' version.
