Sata dvd drive booting

1. Is it the install disk that you can't boot?

2. What type DVD is it? There's +/-RW and a few others; DVD reader/writers generally don't read all formats.

Sata dvd drive booting

its a dvd-r but I know the dvd works I have tried it on another computer before and it works fine. I also know that my dvd player works and reads this type of dvd because I burnt the dvd using this dvd burner.

by install disk do you mean the hard drive.

Sata dvd drive booting

No, the install disk is the DVD - does it boot at all or do you get that message? I'd expect that message only if the CD didn't have a bootable image. Otherwise the BIOS can start the boot process and if you're missing some drivers (like SATA), then the install process will fail somewhere in the middle.

I fixed it I cheated I used an IDE dvd drive. Thanks, you helped me more than you know.

Re: Sata dvd drive booting

Hello. I am new the the forum but I am having the same problem. I running a IDE hard drive and I want to connect a Sata DVD burner, after loading the DVD burner the computer won't finish loading and says, boot disk failure, insert system disk and press enter. I have checked many things like. Device Manager to see if the silicom Image sil 3114 sata raid controller was working. the device is working ok. went into the cmos setup utility on my Gigabyte GA-8EANXP-D Motherboard, the sata / ahci mode [Raid] I made activate and restarted the computer still the same would not start. I set the on chip sata mode to Auto. would not start. I went into the raid configuration setup. it is showing in the Physical drive. 3 HL-DT-ST DVD RAM GH20 Cd-rom also in the logical drive exactly the same. been a DVD drive and not sata hard drives you cannot load the silicom 3114 drivers. I don't know were to go from here. I hope I am in the right section and somebody can assist me with this problem. Many Thanks. Terry.
