where can I find woody powerpc archives?I need an OS for a Macintosh Powerbook G3 (wallstreet) computer. The notes on the debian.org archives are just lists of the files available, but I cannot find an iso file to burn and boot from. Where are the archive files found? I burned one from etch and it wouldn't boot; the g3 is a pre-iMac so that is why I think Woody would work. Thanks, |

I can't find a link to the archives (they're there somewhere - and date back to 'Potato'). You can try starting here:
http://www.debian.org/releases/
and see if any links lead you to the ancient archives.
Someone also asked that question a few months ago, so you might find an answer if you search the archives.

I couldn't find potato, but Sarge might work. You could give a try

Alan-
Thanks for the offer. I found Sarge okay, burned the businesscard and netinst and neither booted. I am looking for Woody and Potato. This G3 dates to '97-'99 I think, but the archives are hard to find. Thanks

Try:

I had a look through the official site and couldn't find woody CDs either - a bit disappointing since they don't take up all that much storage space.
For your model of Mac, you might have a look at an older YellowDog Linux as well. Back in 1999 I found YDL easier to install than Debian on a Mac - I just can't remember if that was a m68K or a PPC.
