Linux NewsClick the above for your daily dose of Linux news. Food for ThoughtBasically North America lives with one political party. It has one ideology within which all the political parties live, even the N.D.P. ... Its funny; we criticize some [...] for their one-party systems, but that is all we have -- a one party system. Etch update of ivtv-modules-2.6.18-4-686During the recent mythtv and Debian Etch re-install from scratch for the nth time, the system returns a message saying that ivtv-module-2.6.18-4-686 is not found. I had input several mirror sites in the /etc/apt/sources.list but still got the same message. I worked around this by doing a m-a a-i ivtv after installing the ivtv-source. Thus, the installed version of ivtv-modules-2.6.18-4-686 is now 2.6.18.dfsg.1-12etch2, which is consistent with linux-headers and linux-image. During the daily update notification, the system indicates that the update of ivtv-modules is available and its version is 2.6.18+0.8.2-4+etch1. I inadvertently allow the system to do the update since I did not catch the version in small print. The update process came back empty because the same error occurred - ivtv-module-2.6.18-4-686 is not found. Is there any way for me to tell the system to ignore updates associated with certain packages? I need to mention that I started using Debian Etch since March so please use newbie-friendly language.
