Why does a web site, which calls itself "Militantly FREE", force me to create an account with Google when all I want to do is to write a reply? Saying something about recaptcha ... Who does such a stupid thing???

Blocks: Left, right (and news feeds)

The site is arranged using a 2 or 3 column series of "blocks."

Typically, the middle (or second) column is the primary content.

The left-side column is normally menus, with some informational and/or "gee whiz" blocks thrown in.

By default, the right-side (or third) column is turned off. That right-side column is various RSS/RDF news feeds from other web sites.

Here's the point of this post: You control whether you see most of those blocks.

Uh-oh, you'll have to register and create a user account.

As referenced in our old site, an upgrade process was being planned for the DebianHELP web site. This process was supposed to (!?!) be timed to be rolled out when the new Squeeze release of Debian.

But some plans go awry.
